Writer, Playwright, Former Tourism Executive
Born January 6, 1940 James Julius Catalyn (deceased 2018) was a Bahamian essayist and playwright who wrote about the unique aspects of Bahamian life and culture.
He believed strongly in preserving the Bahamian dialect.
With his group of talented performers, he travelled extensively throughout the Bahamas and internationally, to share his social and political satires.
In 2000, Mr. Catalyn retired as Tourism Executive of the Ministry of Tourism after 32 years of service and is among those credited for laying the “foundation layers” for the Ministry as a whole.
