Artist, Teacher, Cultural Advocate
Contemporary artist John Cox is amongst a breed of artists responsible for redefining “Bahamian art”. His work is unrehearsed, spiritual and eclectic. Born in 1973, he holds a BFA in Illustration and a Masters in Art Education from Rhode Island School of Design.
John taught in the Art Department at the College of the Bahamas for several years, influencing a new generation of emerging artists.
He founded Popopstudios International Center for the Visual Arts, was chief curator at The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas, and is currently (2023) executive director of arts and culture at the Baha Mar Resort.
