Former Police Officer, Former Parliamentarian, Author, Patriot
Born in 1927, in Deadman’s Cay, Long Island, Errington Watkins was a colourful, larger-than-life figure with a sense of humour and an activist spirit.
A former police officer and parliamentarian, he led unsuccessful efforts by Abaconians to secede from The Bahamas ahead of independence. Errington passed away in December 2016 but his legacy lives on.
He was a storyteller, social commentator, avid farmer, believer in the miracles of bush medicine, but most of all, he was a man who loved his country.
