Artist, Potter
Considered to be the grandfather of Bahamian ceramics, Denis Knight, now in his 90s, has lived and worked in The Bahamas since the 1950s.
He taught in the public school system and the College of The Bahamas for many years, influencing a new generation of ceramicists. In 2011, one of his proteges, master ceramicist Jessica Colebrooke, launched the annual Denis Knight Award, to honour the legendary potter and educator. It recognizes and assists an outstanding student pursuing a career in ceramics.
